Posting game scores in the paper PDF Print E-mail

The following is an email that we received from the Gloucester County Times with regards to posting game scores in the paper:

The Gloucester County Times welcomes details about youth soccer matches played in its coverage area. A youth soccer league roundup is published on Mondays. We ask that the following guidelines be observed:

Emails are preferred. Candidly, it is easier to copy an email and paste it into the text of a story. It also reduces the chance we would misspell a name that we took over the phone.

A sports reporter will be on hand from 5 to 8 p.m. Sundays to take information over the telephone. Call 856 686 3633 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

All information should be received by 8 p.m. Sundays. That gives us a chance to put together the roundup without leaving something out.

Please include the names of those who scored, the keeper if there was a shutout pitched and no more than one or two additional names of those who played well.  It is proper that if two Gloucester County area teams were involved to have the information on hand for both teams. Also, please include the team's name, what age bracket the team plays in and an email address or phone number to contact someone if we have a question.

In keeping with the policies of the South Jersey Soccer League, no score for a small sided (under 10) match will be reported. You can say who scored and the name of the team that won; please do not report the score.

Please assign one parent/coach to call in information.

Here is a sample item:

Tammy Smith and Brittany Jones scored as the West Deptford Sharks defeated TBAA 2-0 in an under 13 match. Cheryl Hoffman pitched the shutout in goal. Joan Jones and Mandy Chambers excelled at midfield and fullback.

At the last SJGSL meeting, Martin Breen (Head Coach) and Bob Rivell (Assistant Coach) received the "Coaches Good Sportsmanship Award" for the past spring league session.  Martin and Bob always adhere to a 'no conflict' approach towards both opposition coaches and referees.

Congratulations to Martin and Bob!

Concession stands are open!! PDF Print E-mail

We would like to announce that the two concession stands at Thompson Family Park are now officially open for business!!  The stands will be open on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, as well as Saturdays and Sundays when there are soccer and/or lacrosse games scheduled.

We are looking for volunteers to help run the stands.  Please keep in mind that all profits from the concession stands go directly back into the East Greenwich Soccer Association to help defer ongoing costs. If you are interested, please contact an EGSA Board Member.

We look forward to seeing you there and we thank you in advance for your patronage!
